Hey Obama, Try Defending This Nation!

As I scanned the headlines this morning I found a frightening theme running through today’s news, see if you agree.

From CNN: “U.S. Scraps Missile Defense Plans.”

From Bloomberg:  “Obama Delays Afghanistan Troop Decision as Criticism Deepens.”

From Breitbart:  “China could undermine US military power in Pacific: Gates.”

From the Wall Street Journal: “U.S. Shelves Eastern European Nuclear Missile Shield.”

Gee, can anyone guess what the theme is?   I mean, WHO IS DEFENDING OUR COUNTRY?? WHO IS KEEPING US SAFE? It sure doesn’t seem to be those sissies in the Obama Administration!

Good Lord….is this inexperience?  Is this naivete?  Is this utopian ideology?  Or is this intentionally weakening the U.S. from within so we cannot protect ourselves outside our borders?

According to the WSJ, the administration’s justification for scrapping missile defense is:

“The U.S. is basing its move on a determination that Iran’s long-range-missile program hasn’t progressed as rapidly as previously estimated, reducing the threat to the continental U.S. and major European capitals, according to current and former U.S. officials.”

Oh, so just like the ‘terrorists’ are now ‘enemy combatants’ we’re changing our semantics and changing our viewpoint.  Iran isn’t a serious threat anymore….because Obama says so!  Now listen, it isn’t that I’m hugely in favor of spending MORE taxpayer dollars to protect the Europeans again but really….Iran isn’t a threat?  Well then, what about North Korea?  Why don’t we protect US?

Then, Breitbart quotes Defense Secretary Robert Gates:

“In fact, when considering the military-modernization programs of countries like China, we should be concerned less with their potential ability to challenge the US symmetrically — fighter to fighter or ship to ship — and more with their ability to disrupt our freedom of movement and narrow our strategic options,”

“Investments in cyber and anti-satellite warfare, anti-air and anti-ship weaponry, and ballistic missiles could threaten America’s primary way to project power and help allies in the Pacific — in particular our forward air bases and carrier strike groups,” Gates said .

The new threats meant long-range military aircraft would take on greater importance as the latest weaponry would “degrade the effectiveness of short-range fighters and put more of a premium on being able to strike from over the horizon — whatever form that capability might take,” he said.

Defense analysts have warned that the US military will soon lose its dominance on the high seas, in space and in cyberspace as China and other emerging powers obtain sophisticated weaponry and missiles.”

After seeing those statements, does anyone else think it’s weird that the Obama administration is cost cutting in the defense arena?

And lastly Bloomberg notes,

“President Barack Obama said he’ll hold off deciding whether to add more U.S. troops to the war in Afghanistan, as Democratic lawmakers raised concerns that he lacks a clear plan and measures of progress.”

Apparently Obama feels the need for a ‘deliberative process’ making decisions around the war in Afghanistan. (We can rush through a ‘Stimulus Bill’, a ‘Cap & Tax’ Bill and a government take over of our health care system but this….this needs a ‘deliberative’ approach!)  More than likely he’s deliberating on the consequences to his political career.  So in effect, our troops already in Afghanistan are, according to their commanders, understaffed.  They’re out there being shot at, hoping to survive….while Obama thinks about sending them help!

Three different topics with one over riding theme…our country is being weakened by the Obama Administration.  We may well live to regret it!

People Wake Up!  What has happened to America?  We did this to ourselves with the 2008 election.  It is time to admit, we made a mistake.  And it is time to do everything we can to correct it!
