Welcome to "The Fed Up American"!

I’ve been following the news day after day and find myself getting more and more frustrated with the way the US government is behaving.  It seems as though more and more of what our elected officials do has everything to do with their own personal agendas and power and less and less to do with what ‘We The People’ expect.

They pander to special interests with big money, or their favorite entitlement groups who will always, always vote them back into office.  But as for the rest of us,  when you call their congressional offices, their staffers are rude to you (that is, when you can get through),  when you write or email them you get  some silly and patronizing form letter response. I’ve had personal experience with that, but that’s a story for another day.

It seems as though they’ve forgotten that “THEY WORK FOR US!”  It seems as though they think we’re stupid. And it seems as though they think we aren’t watching.  But we are aren’t we?  We are watching and we’re keeping track.

More and more of us are educating ourselves on the issues of the day and a lot of us are becoming politically active.  Oh I know, most of us have been regulars at the ballot box for years.  However, I’m willing to bet that many of you have never attended a protest, or written or called your congress person until recently.

The ‘loony left’  makes a hobby of protesting…just for fun…save the whales…save the rainforest…save the cockroaches…trust me, I live in a leftist area where it gets to the point of “if it is Saturday, they must be protesting.” (It can actually be amusing to watch a bunch of aging, gray haired, pony-tailed folks running around with their little protest signs.)

But unlike the “protest for a hobby” crowd, for many of us, the Tax Day Tea Parties of 2009 were our first experiences with protesting. It certainly was for me. And for us, this isn’t just a hobby…something to do on a weekend…this is important.  We’re trying to save the liberties that are inherent with the American Way of Life!  We’re fed up and we’re making our voices heard.  After the Tax Day Tea Parties, they ridiculed us, they labeled us, they tried to ignore us.  But as more and more of us speak out that too will….I hate to use this word…change.

So I want to passionately encourage all of you who feel that enough is enough and it is time to stand up.  Don’t be silent anymore!  We need you to add your voice!  Feel free to comment here but don’t limit yourself to commenting on blogs…we ALL need to speak out…write to them…email them…organize in your area…go to tea parties…attend the protest in Washington, D.C. on September 12….and don’t forget….grab those teachable moments to educate the less enlightened (those gray haired, pony tailed….).  Never be ashamed to speak up!

For all of us I say:  Don’t tread on me!
